I interviewed the executive director of Healthy Ride PGH David White. Healthy Ride PGH works with Pittsburgh Bike Share to provide an eco friendly and healthy option for Pittsburgh commuters. Over the past couple years, Healthy Ride PGH has provided Pittsburgh's neighborhood with bikes to rent.
I was a social media correspondent in the final episode of Closing the Gap: 50 Years Seeking Equal Pay. I was in charge of choosing the questions people were asking through Twitter and Facebook.
Last week I went through all of the woman on the street footage and picked out the best comments and questions for the Closing the Gap package. Almost all of the contact was very useful, but of course there was some that was not. We will start editing the package together on Tuesday Nov. 10. The package will be ready by Thursday Nov. 12 for Closing the Gap.
This past week Allie Bradley and I went out on a man on the street shoot to ask students about their opinions on women in the work force. These questions will be used in a 2:30 package including comments and questions for Closing the Gap on WQED. The questions we asked these women included 1. Have you ever had a sponsor or a mentor in the workplace, and how did they help you with your career? 2. What is the best advice you have ever received from another woman in the workforce on how to succeed at your job? We received a very large range or different answers, comments, and questions. It will definitely make for a good package!
Two weeks ago I logged a tape for Filmmakers Corner on local Pittsburgh film director Steve Parys. He has been working in film for almost 30 years. His first big gig was being the office PA on Silence of the Lambs. He's directed and produced three of his own films including Light Headed, Breakage, and Reign of the Dead.
This past week at WQED I worked as one of the social media correspondents for Closing the Gap. Closing the Gap is an online talk show that focuses on the wage gap between men and women. Audience members are encouraged to submit video questions, and questions via social media about women's issues in the workplace. My job was to monitor Closing the Gap's social media accounts and decide which questions submitted would be asked on the show.
It was a slow week at WQED. There were a lot of changes that took place this week, hence the reason why it was slow. I worked on logging for Gina Catanzarite's documentary on anxiety. The documentary is part of a series based on mental health.
